A POPULAR fitness influencer and local politician has been found dead at her home in Brazil.
Fernanda Oliveira da Silva, better known online as Fernanda Maroca, was discovered lifeless by family members on Thursday at her property in Lago Verde, near São Luís.
Emergency services rushed to the scene but could only confirm her tragic death.
The 30-year-old was a well-known content creator, sharing cosmetic reviews and fitness tips with thousands of followers.
ut she was also a rising political figure, serving as a councillor and twice as president of Lago Verde’s City Council.
Fernanda was a member of Brazil’s centre-right Progressistas party and had first been elected in 2020.
She led the council from 2021 to 2022 and again from 2022 to 2024, and was serving her second term at the time of her death.
City officials have declared three days of mourning in her honour.
A council spokesperson said: “The City of Lago Verde expresses its deepest condolences for the death of Councilwoman Fernanda Maroca, which occurred on Thursday.
“A prominent and respected figure in our community, Fernanda dedicated her life to public service, serving her second term as councilwoman where she was also president of the City Council for two terms, always with commitment and love for Lago Verde.
“In recognition of her political journey and contributions to the municipality, we decree an official mourning period of three days throughout the territory of Lago Verde.”
Police have launched an investigation into the cause of her sudden death.
In her final Instagram post on October 12, Fernanda appeared reflective as she posed by a lake — said to be a favourite spot from her childhood — writing: “Grandpa and grandma talking, and us running around.”
Tributes have since poured in online.
One follower said: “I’m shocked by this news, I followed her Instagram for a long time, and now that I’ve seen this news, it feels like a hole has opened up beneath my feet.”
Another added: “The passing of such a young and hard-working person is very sad, may God comfort all her family and friends.”
