In one of the SHARING KNOWLEDGE Conversations held at the beautiful Palácio Galveias Library, Pedro Santa Clara – promoter of winning projects in our country such as Escola 42 and TUMO – regarding the Future of School highlighted that, as in the past and present, its essence will always have to be the ability to teach the true knowledge that matters. This is a particularly relevant topic and one that has always accompanied the evolution of humanity over time, in its different dimensions. Knowledge must be the most complete expression of the ambition of wanting to be better and better and making a meaningful contribution to the society that we want to also be better itself.

Leonardo da Vinci, in all the artistic and scientific work he produced, was clearly one of the great exponents in mobilizing an agenda centered on knowledge and focused on an idea of a future that is worth believing in – already in the past, this concern for investing in an idea of common good had as its central axis the ability to seek the best answers to the questions that were being asked. This was a permanent dimension of the evolution of the times and it is curious that some of the most renowned thinkers of our time, such as Yurval Noah Harari, refer to this very clearly in their different books and texts published in the last two years – and with greater reason in the recently released NEXUS.

We can in no way have a conformist idea regarding the flow of knowledge that reaches us. Knowledge is itself an exercise in permanent (re)interpretation of truths that are never definitive and we must have the ability to perceive the true dimension of this message. Returning to our sharing exercise carried out on a daily basis over these four and a half years, it is a good example of this discipline that we apply to ourselves in our processes of evaluating the degree of common usefulness of the ideas and sources that we think are the best for others. But this is not – nor can it be a unipolar movement. It has to materialize its reason for being in a true articulation agenda that is perceived as relevant and which thus begins to give meaning.
