This Friday, October 17th, around 100 nurses are gathered at the Ministry of Health, in Lisbon, in protest against the proposed Collective Labor Agreement (ACT) presented by the Government, which they consider harmful to the class.
The mobilization is part of the national strike called by the Portuguese Nurses Union (SEP), which accuses the executive of wanting to save money at the expense of health professionals.
Holding banners and posters with the inscriptions “This ACT is an attack” or “Work more and receive less”, health professionals shouted slogans such as “Government listens, nurses are fighting” and “Valuation yes, exploitation no”.
According to the SEP, the proposal represents an “inadmissible setback”, with the elimination of acquired rights, impediments to career progression and the end of continuous working hours as a rule.
During the protest, professionals will submit a motion against ACT to the Ministry of Health.
