This Thursday, November 6, the national under-17 team secured qualification for the round of 32 of the World Cup for the category, which will take place in Doha, Qatar, after beating Morocco 6-0, in the second round of group B.
The team coached by Bino Maçães, which in the first round had beaten New Caledonia 6-1, also benefited from Japan’s 0-0 draw with the Oceania team, which allowed them to finish in one of the first two places that qualify for the knockout stage.
Portugal, the current European under-17 champion, gave the African champion no chance, reaching half-time leading 4-0, with goals from João Aragão (20 minutes), Anísio Cabral (22), Mateus Mide (29 and 44, the last from a penalty). In the second half, left defender José Neto scored twice (in the 46th and 60th minutes) and completed an excellent performance, as he also made two assists for the goal.
On Sunday at 1:30 pm, the Quinas team will play Japan, with a draw enough to guarantee first place in the group.
