Two goals on his debut and a place in Sporting history for Salvador Blopa. The young defender was one of those awarded the title, in the revolution promoted by Rui Borges, against Alverca, on the night of Tuesday, October 28th, and responded like no other player of his age. The 18-year-old player scored twice and, in addition to helping the team win (5-1) and qualify for the final four of the League Cup, he became the youngest to score twice on his debut.

With two goals at the age of 18 years, four months and 15 days, the young lion surpassed a mark that was around 88 years old and that belonged to the mythical Fernando Peyroteo, who was 19 years old when he scored twice in the 7-0 defeat of Casa Pia, in the 1937/38 season.

“I always believed in my dreams. I wasn’t expecting this day to come so soon… I continued working until it arrived. I’m very happy with the two goals, but even more so with the opportunities that the coaches have given me, as they have always believed in me”, said in flash intervew and SportTVafter the final whistle.

Rui Borges will be linked to the defender’s debut, who, according to the coach, fulfilled the mission given to him and then shone: “Tactically he gave what we wanted. He plays sometimes on the right and sometimes on the left, sometimes taller and sometimes shorter… He’s a kid with very unique characteristics, athletic, and who will physically grow a lot.”

Born on June 13, 2007, in Cascais, Salvador Blopa has Guinean roots and began taking his first steps in football at Fontaínhas at the age of six. He arrived at the Leonine club in 2017 and became the 85th player on Tuesday night made in at the Cristiano Ronaldo Academy to reach the first team.

An under-19 international, Salvador Blopa will remain in Sporting’s B team until Rui Borges calls him back to the main team.
