The PAN meets the Political Commission this Tuesday night and on the agenda, as DN knows, are two central points: the vote for the State Budget next week and the Presidential theme.
From what our newspaper was able to determine, Inês de Sousa Real has criticisms to make of Luís Montenegro’s Executive and should speak out against the 2026 State Budget. The sole deputy and spokesperson for the party will convey arguments to the remaining members in this regard. One of the points presented will be Montenegro’s lack of dialogue with other political forces, remembering that the PAN was received by Executive ministers, but not by the Government leader himself.
On Thursday, October 9th, three days before the Municipal Elections, the PAN considered it “absurd” to receive the State Budget in the middle of the campaign, considering it “not worthy of debate”. Sousa Real highlighted that “plans such as porta 65 for housing or fire protection” were left out of the document, noting that it was “falling short in relieving the cost of living for the Portuguese and for companies seeking a green economy.” This same voting decision should become known at nightfall.
The presidential question should raise more doubts. The spokesperson, to DN, assured that the party would take a position and that it would not give up “on a name that represents its ideology”, criticizing whoever came forward, a direct barb at Bloco de Esquerda and PS: “We were in coalition with some of these parties in the Local Government, but the choice did not come from any dialogue and consultation with the PAN.”
The investment for your own presidential campaign, it is known, can impact the decision. Both António José Seguro and Catarina Martins are not names that receive unanimity.
