Regarding the case of the pregnant woman’s death, Ana Paula Martins cited information from the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) and ULS Amadora-Sintra, also mentioning the opening of investigations by the General Inspection of Health Activities (IGAS) and the Health Regulatory Entity (ERS), referring to the user as “originally from Guinea-Bissau”.
During the debate, the governor recalled that she is from Guinea-Bissau and that she saw “no problem in mentioning the place where people were born”.
“I was born there because my father worked there. I never hid it, quite the opposite. I’m proud of my childhood. And, therefore, if I said it twice, I said it talking about someone who is a compatriot. This is a question of defending honor. I only said one fact. This lady is a lady who comes from Guinea-Bissau, who arrived here very recently, at 38 weeks of pregnancy, it was the first time we saw her”, he highlighted.
On Monday, in Porto, Ana Paula Martins explained that, when she was in the OE2026 debate, she only shared information received from ULS Amadora-Sintra, noting that she does not comment on clinical cases.
On that day, the Minister of Health announced that the president of ULS Amadora-Sintra, Carlos Sá, resigned on Sunday after giving incomplete information about the pregnant woman.
The baby was born by emergency cesarean section and died on Saturday morning.
