The Minister of Infrastructure today defended CP – Comboios de Portugal as a “house of serious people” and rejected Chega’s accusations of “promiscuity” and “lack of transparency” at the railway carrier.
“CP undermined? CP with clear signs of cronyism, of private benefit? I invite you, Mr. Deputy, to file a complaint with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, do it now in relation to CP, because if I had these signs, I would do it now”, responded Miguel Pinto Luz, in response to Deputy Francisco Gomes, from Chega, stressing that CP “is a house that works” and “of serious people”.
The government official is being in parliament today, this Friday, 31st, as part of the specialized assessment of the State Budget proposal for 2026 and had been questioned by deputy Francisco Gomes about alleged “promiscuity” and “lack of transparency” in the CP.
“It’s not just from here to say that there is corruption, do [queixa ao Ministério Público]tell CP what these signs are, that I don’t have them”, challenged Pinto Luz.
In response to the PSD, the minister admitted that there is a problem in the maintenance of the CP, which “necessarily has to be reinforced” and added that, according to the transport company’s analysis, in addition to the approximately 200 trains that will arrive in the coming years, “there will possibly be many others missing”.
