Miguel Oliveira (Yamaha), who says goodbye to the Portuguese MotoGP public this weekend, said this Thursday, November 6th, that he has a “boost extra” for the Portuguese Grand Prix, and recalled that his “future remains open”.

In 2020, Miguel Oliveira won at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve (AIA), for the premier category of speed motorcycling, and faces the weekend in Portimão with optimism, largely due to the extra strength he will receive from the fans present in the stands.

“These are special emotions, of course. Each coming season is a different challenge and this year is no different. It’s a pleasure to be in front of my fans. It’s a boost extra, I’m the only Portuguese on the grid”the Almada-born driver began by saying at the press conference to launch the Portuguese Grand Prix, in Portimão.

Competing in his seventh season in MotoGP, having already planned to move to the Superbike World Championship (on series-derived motorcycles) from 2026, with BMW, Oliveira, 30 years old, wants to “make the most of this weekend” and he does not hide his desire to return to the motorcycling elite.

“I always leave the future open, I definitely don’t close the door on being here again as a complete driver on the grid”pointed.

Then, he indicated what he has to do to eventually return to the premier class in the future.

“Right now, there is no opportunity for me here. What I have to do is focus on what I can do next season, this weekend and the future remains open.”he declared.

Absent from the MotoGP Portuguese Grand Prix will be the defending champion, Marc Márquez (Ducati), who has already mathematically secured the 2025 sceptre, and his compatriot Jorge Martin (Aprilia), champion in 2024 and winner of the Portuguese round last year, both due to injury.

The 21st edition of the Portuguese Grand Prix will be held for the sixth consecutive year at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve (AIA), in Portimão, which hosts a championship race for the sixth time, between Friday and Sunday, in the 21st round of the 77th season of the main speed motorcycle World Championship.
