The median price of the 41,608 family homes transacted in the second quarter was 2,065 per square meter, 19% more than in the same period in 2024 and after an increase of 18.7% in the previous quarter, according to INE.
Local Housing Price statistics published today by the National Statistics Institute (INE) indicate that the number of family accommodation transactions in Portugal increased by 15.6% compared to the same quarter last year.
The median housing price increased, in relation to the same period of 2024, in the 26 NUTS III sub-regions (Intermunicipal Entities, such as the Intermunicipal Communities and the Metropolitan Areas of Lisbon and Porto) with Baixo Alentejo standing out with the highest growth (38.7%).
The sub-regions of Greater Lisbon, Algarve, Península de Setúbal, Autonomous Region of Madeira and Metropolitan Area of Porto presented the highest median housing prices, as well as the highest values in both categories of buyer’s tax residence (national and foreign territory).
In Greater Lisbon and the Porto Metropolitan Area, the median price of transactions carried out by buyers with tax domicile abroad exceeded, by 61.9% and 29.0%, respectively, the price of transactions by buyers with tax domicile in national territory.
