Maria de Belém believes that “there is public recognition of the social economy” and emphasizes that it is a determining trend. This is because “without sensitivity there are no good decisions”, he stressed.
The words were left at the Global Innovation Coop Summit, which aims to co-host the Caixa Agrícola de Torres Vedras. The idea is to promote a debate about the benefits of cooperativism and the challenges it faces, in a global context.
The second and final day of the event takes place this Tuesday. Maria de Belém was present and was invited to go on stage, where she received the Padre Milicias Economia Social Award. In a speech given to this purpose, she appeared “very honored” and left a speech focused on corporatism.
“The social economy is human rights in action”, reinforced the former Minister of Health, about something that “impels us to get to work, in order to do better”, she said, before leaving a warning.
To achieve this, it is important that each individual has the will to intervene in society, “not just thinking about their needs, but about collective needs, because they see each other”, he recalls.
Likewise, “individualism destroys the qualities of any human being” and, therefore, “no one is complete without others”, he added.
