Exports of goods fell 0.1% in the third quarter and imports increased 5.2%, in nominal terms and compared to the same period last year, according to the quick estimate released this Tuesday, 28th, by the National Statistics Institute (INE).
According to INE, if TTE transactions (transactions with a view to or following custom work, without transfer of ownership) are excluded, the variation in exports was zero and the increase in imports was “less significant”, at 3.0%.
Compared to the previous quarter, there was a “slight improvement in the evolution of exports”, which in the second quarter had fallen by 1.2% (-1.6% without TTE).
Imports of goods grew for the sixth consecutive quarter, maintaining, however, a slowdown compared to the previous quarter, whose year-on-year variation was +6.5%.
However, when excluding TTE, imports accelerated growth, after registering a variation of +2.1% in the second quarter.
