On the other hand, the GT-AITP found that “some of its recommendations, particularly in terms of the management of projects with a view to reducing their negative impact on the city, were accepted, despite this not having been publicly recognized by those responsible for their implementation”.
As a summary of its activities, the group created in February 2024 and which included all the political forces present at the Municipal Assembly, states that it met 18 times and issued six reports, two letters and one opinion, having held meetings, over time, with the presidents of Metro do Porto (Tiago Braga), Sociedade de Transportes Coletivos do Porto (Cristina Pimentel) and Câmara Municipal do Porto (Rui Moreira), among various exchanges of information between services and technicians.
“The Working Group, despite its maintenance in the next municipal mandate naturally depending on the legitimate decision of the members elected to the new Municipal Assembly, cannot fail to recommend the maintenance of its operation”states in the report.
The recommendation “it follows from the fact that none of the projects that were the subject of analysis over these eighteen months have been completed and, also, that new important projects are envisaged”with the high-speed line and the projects for the new metro lines (Gondomar, Maia 2, São Mamede and Porto ring road), “which are important to monitor from the design process onwards”.
