The service is free, but the legislation imposes limitations on what consulate professionals can do. Brazilians residing in the consular jurisdiction* who require support in emergency situations are authorized to request this assistance.

To place the order, just send an email to cg.lisboa@itamaraty.gov.br, with a brief summary of the type of support desired. “The Consulate General clarifies that the services are punctual in nature, intended to guide citizens in emergency situations”, informs the official website.

In the case of psychological care, “no medium or long-term psychotherapeutic treatments, vocational guidance, psychotechnical assessments or medication prescription are provided“. Legal assistance, in turn, cannot assume the defense of Brazilian citizens in court; in these cases, it is only possible to provide guidance and referral to local entities that provide these services.

In emergency situations, the consular service can be called by number +351 962 520 581. The telephone number is exclusively for emergency casesand should not be used to answer general questions or make requests for service. More information is available here.
