The Minister of Internal Administration warned this Monday, October 20th, that the recent wave of violent crimes generates an exacerbated feeling of insecurity in relation to reality.
“There is indeed some increase in violent crime, but it is not as much as the media echoes, which generates in people a feeling of insecurity regarding the reality that does not always coincide with what actually happens”, stated the Minister of Internal Administration, Maria Lúcia Amaral, when asked about the five cases that occurred in the Lisbon region.
In the last week, the police registered five cases of people being shot: A man was admitted to the Amadora-Sintra Hospital this morning with gunshot wounds to the knee, after, on Sunday, another young man was also left at the door of the same hospital with injuries to the abdomen.
In the early hours of Wednesday, in Cova da Moura (Amadora), another man was shot in the stomach area and, on Tuesday, authorities registered two other cases.
