PayPal, an American online payments company, totaled 3,263 million euros in profit until September, an increase of 25.4% compared to the same period in 2024, it was announced this Tuesday, the 28th.

In the third quarter alone, PayPal’s net profit amounted to 1,248 million dollars (around 1,073 million euros), 23.6% more than in the same period last year, he said in a statement.

In turn, quarterly revenue increased by 7.3% to 8,417 million dollars (7,234 million euros).

Operating costs rose 6.8% and stood at 6,897 million dollars (5,928 million euros).

PayPal had 438 million active accounts, six million more compared to the numbers recorded in the previous 12 months.

For the fourth quarter of this year, the company forecasts earnings of between $1.23 and $1.27 per share.

PayPal also announced the start of a quarterly dividend distribution program of $0.14 per share, with payment on December 10th.

Quoted in the same note, the company’s executive president, Alex Chriss, defended that the quarterly results were positive and added that PayPal is establishing “partnerships with leaders, such as Google, OpenAI and Perplexity”.

The multinational signed an agreement with OpenAI to use Agentic Commerce Prtocol (ACP) and connect PayPal accounts to the ChatGPT artificial intelligence assistant.

“Hundreds of millions of people turn to ChatGPT every week for help with everyday tasks like finding products they like, and more than 400 million use PayPal to make purchases,” Chriss noted.

Through the partnership now established, Paypal wants to “enhance payment and commerce experiences, which will help people move from ‘chat’ to ‘checkout’” in just a few clicks.
