The North 2030 Regional Program approved 124 cultural and heritage projects worth 58.7 million euros (ME), with 39 additional projects in the approval phase, totaling a further 11 million euros of investment.
In a statement, the Northern Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR-N) presents the first assessment of the application of NORTE 2030 funds in the field of Heritage and Culture, one year after the launch of the Regional Action Plan for Culture NORTE 2030.
According to CCDR-N, “this financing effort represents an unprecedented increase in regional cultural policy”.
“Distributed across nine lines of support launched between 2024 and 2025, which range from the valorization of cultural and intangible heritage, the modernization of cultural infrastructures, the digitalization of heritage, the reinforcement of the regional culture system and the creation of new cultural routes, including the Contemporary Art Route, developed in partnership with the Serralves Foundation”, explains this Commission.
For the president of CCDR-N, cited in the statement, “these results demonstrate the maturity of the region’s cultural institutions and the relevance of Culture as a driver of development”.
“NORTE 2030 is realizing a vision in which heritage, artistic creation and cultural innovation are established as pillars of the economic and social future of the North”, highlights António Cunha.
The CCDR-N highlights that the NORTE 2030 – Cultura Mais a Norte program “thus translates into a global investment of more than 70 million euros, affirming Culture as an essential axis of regional public policies and a lever for the valorization of heritage, artistic creation and the qualification of territories”.
