One such trend is the exclusive “Group 7” on TikTok – here’s everything you need to know so you can follow the meme’s meaning (and ruin their fun).
What is the Group 7 TikTok trend?
The Group 7 trend on TikTok is a viral phenomenon that started with singer Sophia James’ experiment with the platform’s algorithm.
Exploring how TikTok works in terms of getting views and gaining followers, she posted a sequence of seven videos in October 2025.
By the fourth clip, Sophia started labelling them and those who watched them into groups.
The text over video four reads: “If you’re seeing this you are in group 4.
“I am posting a bunch of videos and seeing which ones reach the most viewers.
“This is the fourth post of the batch so you are group 4.”
The seventh video, which became the most popular, Sophia declared viewers who saw it as part of “Group 7”.
She wrote: “If you are watching this video, you are in group 7.
“I have posted seven videos tonight and this is the seventh one.
“Just a little science experiment to see what kind of video gets the most reach.”
This video went viral, gaining over 15million views as of October 21, 2025.
It sparked a craze where TikTok users embraced being in Group 7 as a symbol of exclusivity and coolness.
Rather than having any actual meaning or purpose – like a great many internet memes and trends popular among youngsters – Group 7 has become an inside joke and community shared by TikTok users.
It also served as a smart marketing campaign, helping promote Sophia’s song So Unfair, which was featured in the videos and is the unofficial anthem of Group 7.

Many users have humorously boasted about being in Group 7, while poking fun at groups one to six.
Underneath Sophia’s video, one wrote: “I KNEW deep in my soul that one day I would be a group 7 girlie.”
Another posted: “I (hereby) declare group 7 is the most elite group,”
A third quipped: “I have immediate beef with groups 1-6.”
While a fourth posted: “Group 7 is the hot girl group I don’t make the rules.”
So Group 7 fame is more about belonging to a viral moment than any actual club.
Is Group 7 related to 6-7?
Group 7 on TikTok is in no way related to the “6-7” meme that also gained tremendous traction on TikTok earlier in 2025.
It originated from the song Doot Doot (6 7)” by Skrilla, where the rapper repeatedly says “six-seven”.
The number sequence itself carries no specific meaning and is pretty much nonsensical, not unlike Group 7 and the “Skibidi” toilet meme.
The phrase is shouted spontaneously without any obvious reason.
Six-seven is so prevalent that it even featured in an episode of South Park titled Twisted Christian.
The slang has been banned in some classrooms due to its disruptive nature.
