THIS is the terrifying moment a huge great white shark savages its prey off the coast of a tourist hotspot, leaving onlookers glad they weren’t in the water.
Footage shows the shark devouring its meal near the Greek island of Karpathos as stunned fishermen watched.
The marine predator was spotted by the crew on a fishing boat on November 5, just off the coast of Rhodes.
The 16ft long shark can be seen just a few feet from the boat in the crystal clear water.
The shark approaches a floating tuna before it devours it in a shocking display of strength and ferocity.
The stunned fisherman can be heard exclaiming, “What is this? I swear this is a five-metre shark!”.

In 2023, the International Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Studies released a report outlining the past 180 years of shark attacks in Greece.
Author Christos Taklis concluded that the risk of attack is “rare”.
The report reads: “The country’s waters are also home to a variety of shark species, and there have been occasional reports of shark attacks over the years, but not in the last three decades.”
The highest incidence of shark attacks was observed in the 1950s, with a total of six attacks occurring in that decade.
The other nine attacks occurred at various times between 1843 and 2023.
Of the 15 shark attacks, nine involved male victims, four involved a female victim and two were unknown victims.
The most common victims were swimmers (11 cases) and divers (three cases).
Although rare, it’s not the first time fisherman in Greece have had scary close encounters with sharks.
