A TEEN girl was found dead in a horror killing after being left in the care of her step-uncle – a man with a shocking history of sex crimes.
Kylie Toberman, 14, was found in an RV in Vandalia, Illinois, after a hectic hours-long search.
The girl was last seen at around 9pm wearing a red sweatshirt and black leggings, and was reported missing at dawn.
But hopes of finding her alive were crushed when police discovered her body on the property at around 2.20pm on Thursday.
Her exact cause of death is still being determined.
Toberman’s step-uncle Arnold Barry Rivera, 43, was arrested after a brief foot chase, and reportedly broke into neighbouring homes as he fled.
The Vandalia Police Department had put out a wanted alert on Saturday, warning the public: “If you locate Rivera please do not approach [him] but call 911 immediately.”
Rivera now faces charges for first-degree murder, aggravated sexual assault and concealing a homicide.
Records show he previously faced allegations of sexually abusing a minor, a case that was dropped five months later.
Heartbroken mum Meghan Zeller had begged locals to help find Kylie.
She later posted the devastating update that her daughter was “no longer with us”.
She wrote: “I was young and dumb… I thought I could trust somebody and now my baby is an angel,
“I will not stop until my child gets justice.”
Toberman lived apart from her mother, who did not have custody of her or two other daughters.
The teen’s father had died from a drug overdose.
She had instead been staying with a step-sister’s grandmother when the tragedy occurred.
Locals said Rivera’s home was so filthy from dog feces that the girls were put in an RV out back.
Despite her tough childhood, Kylie was said to be bright at school and an active member of the wrestling team.
Rivera was booked into jail at 8pm on Friday and is due in court this week.
The Illinois State Police continue to investigate.
