FOOTAGE shows the moments a blazing barrage of Ukrainian missiles rained down on a Russian city, leaving residents scrambling for shelter.
Explosions were reported in Oryol early on Thursday morning, as authorities simultaneously declared missile and drone threats to the region.
Terrifying video captured by Russian locals showed the rain of fire falling around residential buildings, with sirens blaring in the background.
A brief shelter-in-place alert was issued at 4.30am, followed by loud noises and strong blasts.
The footage captured the moments after the blast, where burning debris was falling to the ground.
Online, locals reported that air defence systems were active, saying numerous aerial targets had been destroyed as residents watched unidentified drones in the night sky.

In a statement from Oryol Oblast Governor Andrey Klychkov, he said “Several cars and the windows of balconies in apartment buildings and private homes were damaged”.
“At this time, there is no information about casualties.”
Multiple oil depots are located in the Russian city, as well as a military base used to launch Shahed drones toward Ukraine.
The region is about 93 miles from the Ukrainian border.
The Ukrainian military has regularly targeted military and industrial facilities in Russia and in Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine.
The Kyiv Independent reported that Ukrainian forces also struck Orsknefteorgsintez – an oil refinery Russia’s city of Orsk, Orenburg Regiont – on Tuesday.
The refinery produces over 30 types of petroleum products, including gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene and oils.
The missile blitz also comes after Russia’s port town of Tuapse on the Black Sea was rocked by explosions after Ukraine allegedly used its new home-produced long-range Flamingo missile.
Footage showed a giant explosion at pier 167 with a huge ball of fire rising in the air.
The port on fire is crucial for Russian oil exports, which Moscow uses to fuel its war against Ukraine.
And earlier, there were reports that a vessel – possibly an oil tanker – was on fire because of another Ukrainian attack.
The attack on Tuapse were initially believed to have been by Kyiv’s pioneering sea drones, however Russian channels later speculated that Volodymyr Zelensky’s new Flamingo – entirely produced in Ukraine – had been deployed.
Telegram war channel For Freedom said that the explosion indicated “something pink” had detonated close to a key export pier in the Black Sea port.

Further evidence of a Flamingo strike was a giant crater allegedly caused by a missile that missed the target and hit a beach.
The crater was “clearly left by a very heavy munition, not a simple kamikaze drone”, a Russian media channel reported.
