HUNDREDS of Russians have taken to the streets of St. Petersburg calling for Vladimir Putin to be ousted from the Kremlin.
A massive crowd spent the evening chanting anti-war songs and demanding Putin is overthrown from Russia’s government in a rare public display of dissent against the tyrant.
Street musicians led the charge against Vlad as they organised an event at Kazanskaya Square on October 13.
Russian citizens flocked to the built-up street and started to rejoice in the anti-Putin sentiment ringing around St. Petersburg.
Many were seen singing the lyrics to Co-operative Swan Lake by Noize MC, a pro-Ukrainian rapper, which was being played by a band in the historic square.
Co-operative Swan Lake is well known among Russians as an outlawed song in the country.
It is often seen as the unofficial anthem for young citizens rebelling against Moscow and their continued war with Ukraine.
Many of the lyrics are viewed as “extremest” under Russian censorship laws.
A St. Petersburg court even banned the distribution of the song in May, following a lawsuit in April.
Defiant Russians were heard chanting on the streets: “Where have you been for eight years, you f***ing monsters?
“I want to watch ballet, let the swans dance.
“Let your grandpa tremble with excitement for Swan Lake.”
Other lyrics in the song are much more direct in their scathing review of Putin and his regime.
“When the czar dies, we’ll dance again,” they continue.
“The old man still clings to his throne, afraid to let go.
“Old man in the bunker, still thinks it’s nineteen eighty-five.”
The artist behind the track is Noize MC, real name Ivan Alekseev.
He was forced to flee Russia and ended up in Lithuania shortly after Putin’s illegal invasion in 2022.
The night of singing was put on by the band Stoptime who are known for organising street concerts.
The band is known for performing songs by artists designated as “foreign agents” by Russia such as Noize MC.
Cops arrested their lead singer Diana Loginova, 18, for leading the chants, according to Russian media.
She is reportedly set to be charged with an administrative offence for organising a large gathering in a public place.
In a strange twist, Diana’s mum Irina claimed her daughter would never support Ukraine and turn against her country.
Irina told local media: “Diana lives with me, she’s constantly under my supervision.

“Moreover, she’s a patriot of our country, she loves Russia very much and has no plans to leave! She has no intention of supporting Ukraine!”
