Urso was also considered to have ordered the execution, by mistake, of three doctors at a Congress in Rioone of them the brother of a federal deputy, mistaken for militiamen, in 2023. Two brothers, Rodolfo and Lucas Brito, who gave their house to the police during an operation years before, were taken to an area of the favela called Vacaria to be executed and burned. Janayna Paixão, 22 years old, was killed by the drug court because, according to her boyfriend, she was a police informant. A rival in the Quitungo favela, a member of the TCP, was beheaded. The widow took her husband’s head to the police station to record the crime.
Bear, or The Tropa do Urso, as the criminals under his guidance are called, even attacked a police station in Duque de Caxias, neighboring city of Rio, injuring two police officers and torturing another, in February this year. The objective was to rescue allied drug trafficker Rodolfo Viana, known as Rato, arrested hours earlier in the Vai Quem Quer favela.
In 2021, he attempted to rescue an inmate in a Bangu prison by helicopter. And, in 2022, it became involved in a bloody war with the TCP for control of the São Carlos Complex.
In its actions, Tropa do Urso uses specific groups, such as Equipa Sombra, focused on conquering territories, or Equipa Ódio, specialized in attacks on TCP.
