A new reading of one of Shakespeare’s greatest theater classics arrives in Portugal this week through two Brazilian artists. Another Leardirected by Roni Sousa and performed by Humberto Pendrancini, will have two performances in the country, the first at the Festival Política, in Loulé, this Thursday (23), at 9:30 pm, and the second at Fábrica do Braço de Prata, in Lisbon, on Sunday (26), starting at 7 pm.
The play starts from the tragedy Rei Lear to build a current portrait of a man who, after losing his power and reason, confronts his own fragility. Between delirium and lucidity, the montage proposes a reflection on the collapse of systems, political and personal, and on the limits between sanity and authority.

With intense staging, Another Lear brings the audience closer to the protagonist’s emotional universe. On stage, Pendrancini, one of the leading names in Brasília theater, gives life to a king stripped of glory and surrounded by doubts. The creation is signed by Ronivan Sousa, master in Performing Arts from Universidade Nova de Lisboa who lives between Brazil and Portugal and has been developing projects that explore the relationship between body, word and image.
The show has dramaturgy by Yuri Fidelis, lighting design by Ana Quintas, sound design and projection by Diogo Vanelli, and scenography designed by Roni Sousa and the Matilha collective. The production is by Da Margem Produções and lasts 1h10, with an age rating for over 12 years old.
