Chega obtained 26,755 votes in Lisbon, three more than the CDU, confirming the distribution of mandates of two councilors for Chega and one for the coalition, according to the general tabulation assembly.
The CDU, a coalition that brings together PCP and PEV, stated on Tuesday that there were 60 votes to be counted in the parish of São Domingos de Benfica, in Lisbon, “which were not counted” on Sunday as part of the municipal elections.
According to the provisional results published by the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Internal Administration, the CDU had been overtaken by Chega in the election for the Lisbon City Council, by a difference of just 11 votes, but which was reflected in the loss of a communist councilor in the capital, compared to the two elected in 2021.
Data from the general counting assembly, which completed the final vote count on Friday, October 17, revealed that Chega beat the CDU by three votes, confirming the election of councilors Bruno Mascarenhas and Ana Simões Silva for Chega, and João Ferreira for CDU.
In the provisional results published by the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Internal Administration, Chega, the party that in 2021 was unable to be elected to the municipal executive, was the third most voted candidate, with 10.10% of the votes (26,780 votes), ahead of the CDU, which obtained 10.09% (26,769 votes), by a difference of just 11 votes.
In Sunday’s elections, the social democrat Carlos Moedas was re-elected president of the Lisbon City Council, by the PSD/CDS-PP/IL coalition, with 41.69% of the votesdefeating socialist Alexandra Leitão (PS/Livre/BE/PAN), who had 33.95%.
