The Government is considering restoring three days of public service vacation, totaling 28 days. The guarantee was left by the president of the State Technical Staff Union (STE), Maria Helena Rodrigues.
She spoke to the Secretary of State for Public Administration, Marisa Garrido, this Wednesday, October 15th, at the Ministry of Finance. The basis of the conversation were negotiations that focus on working conditions in the sector.
The member of the Government promised that she will “study our proposal”, putting on the table the phased replacement of the three days, with the possibility of adding “one for each year”. At issue are three days of vacation that were allocated to workers, until they were removed during the Troika intervention in Portugal, in 2014.
Unchanged is the proposal for salary increases for 2026, in the order of 56.28 euros to around 2,600 euros, or an increase of 2.15% for those who earn more. Still, the future may bring a “more positive evolution”, as the issue “is not non-negotiable”, from the Government’s perspective, indicated the union leader.
