The Intercidades train that made the connection between Lisbon and Faro on the afternoon of Monday, October 13, lost a carriage due to the coupling breaking, says Público. According to this newspaper, the incident took place between Grândola and Canal Caveira and resulted in the train being immobilized.

Público explains that this type of situation is not dangerous, since breaking a coupling causes a break in the general brake line, which causes the train to stop immediately. Therefore, what happened in this case was that after the coupling broke, the trains stopped automatically, making it necessary to tow them.

An official CP source told Antena 1 that the passengers of the carriage that got loose were redistributed to the remaining carriages, and the train then continued its journey.

According to the same source, the Office for the Prevention and Investigation of Aircraft Accidents and Railway Accidents decided to open a preliminary analysis to collect information.
