AT least two people have been killed and 18 injured after a truck ploughed into a crowd in South Korea.
The truck appeared to reverse before accelerating towards an outdoor market in the city of Bucheon, some 12 miles from Seoul.
CCTV footage aired on Korean television showed shoppers going about their business at an outdoor market before a blue truck accelerated along a passageway lined by stalls and crashed into one of the stores.
Two people who had suffered cardiac arrest were later confirmed to have died, the Yonhap News Agency said.
Police had arrested the driver, who was in his 60s, and he was being questioned, the media outlet reported.
Authorities revealed the driver blamed a sudden surge of acceleration for the incident.

HORROR ATTACK
‘Allahu Akbar’ attacker named after ramming car with gas canisters into crowd
The driver was not intoxicated when tested for alcohol, a police official said at a media briefing.
It comes after three women were killed when a luxury car driven by an allegedly drunk businessman crashed into a tree.
Meanwhile, a Frenchman injured at least 10 people on a holiday island before screaming “Allahu Akbar”.
Jean Guillot, 35, was taken into custody after being accused of attempted murder following the rampage on Oléron, off France’s west coast.
Emergency services rushed to the scene of the “deliberate” attack, which saw a car carrying gas cannisters in its boot driven into the crowd.
There were fears Guillot might be linked to a terrorist group because he was heard shouting “Allahu Akbar” – Arabic for “God is the Greatest” and an expression often used by Islamist groups.
But photos posted on Guillot’s social media accounts show a white Caucasian Frenchman with no obvious links to Islamism, an investigating source said.
Instead, the suspect grew up in the village of Mayac, near Périgueux, in the Dordogne, and at one point said he wanted “to be baptised” into Christianity.
He lived alone in a mobile home in La Cotinière, a village close to wear the car attack took place, and had convictions for “theft, violence, property damage, traffic offences, and drug use”.
