THIS is the horrifying moment a woman armed with scissors is confronted by a terrified near-nude homeowner in a chilling attempted home invasion.
Security footage captured the frightening ordeal, when the woman broke into an Australian couple’s home.
The footage shows the female intruder being confronted by homeowner Jane, who said she had just gotten out of bed when she discovered the woman in her Russell Island home.
CCTV captured the chaotic scene, after Jane slammed the bedroom door closed, with the woman unleashing a violent assault on the barrier.
Jane’s partner Steve held the door closed while she called for help.
When the woman moved away from the door, Steve leapt into action.

He emerged from the bedroom, wearing just his underpants and entered into a frantic struggle with the intruder.
The pair wrestled on the floor as Steve tried to get the scissors away from her.
She kicked chairs out from under the table in the chaos.
“I’ve got to do what I’ve got to do to protect Jane, us,” he said.
Steve described the grapple as “exhausting”.
“There was seconds, there wasn’t long at all.”
“It’s like she had superpowers because she was very strong,” he said.
Jane then managed to grab the scissors during the scuffle, while she was on the phone with emergency services.
“It’s like, for ages … I keep saying, ‘Hurry up, please, we need police‘,” Jane said.
“The lady said, ‘They’re coming’.”
Steve restrained the woman for 25 minutes before the police arrived and arrested the 40-year-old.
“Our hands [were] together, and I said, ‘Make sure you cuff the right one,’” Steve recounted.
Queensland Police confirmed the woman was trespassing while armed with scissors and also found she had a small quantity of methamphetamine.
The entire ordeal was captured by security cameras that Steve had installed just one month earlier, due to a history of fainting.
“Well, we’ve only had it there for a month, so we’re lucky we got it,” he said.
The attack has left the couple feeling unsafe in their home, despite describing the island as a usually peaceful refuge from the city.
“We’ve always left the house unlocked. Not anymore. So it’s a different place,” Steve said.
Jane described the incident as “very scary”.
“Until now, I’m still panicking. Did you lock the door? Did you lock the gate?” she said.
The couple have urged others to stay vigilant for their safety.

“Lock your doors. Stay safe. You just never know anymore. Sadly, you don’t, and that is what’s scary,” Steve said.
Police are yet to charge the woman.
